England's Groove Armada released their fourth album Lovebox in January 2003. It is an eclectic collection of catchy songs that touch on a variety of styles from dance to hip-hop to rock, recalling the work of other contemporary electronic acts like Basement Jaxx. "Groove is On" features some jagged industrial percussion that contrasts well with the ethereal atmospherics of "Remember," which calls to mind the work of Air. "Madder" contains some more conventional rock guitar with a rap by M.A.D. Neneh Cherry contributes soulful vocals to "Groove is On" and "Thinking Twice," and BJ Cole, who has recently appeared on ex-Verve front man Richard Ashcroft's solo albums, provides some spacey pedal steel guitar on several tracks.

While most of album works well as subtly funky chill-out music, "Final Shakedown" is a thoroughly danceable club track. Appearances by Nappy Roots, Sunshine Anderson, Richie Havens and the London Community Gospel Choir further the eclecticism of Lovebox, which will appeal to fans of everyone from Zero 7 and Massive Attack to Primal Scream and Charlatans UK to Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk.
